The Community of St. Joseph the Worker

The Community of Saint Joseph the Worker is located in Neepawa Manitoba, Canada, within the Anglican Diocese of Brandon.  Fr. Chad-Vladimir McCharles is the Prior of this community, as well as rector of the Neepawa United-Anglican Shared Ministry. The community gathers once each month for a Chapter Meeting held in St. James’ Chapel, which can be found within the home of the Neepawa United-Anglican Shared Ministry, at 475 Mountain Avenue.

Saint Joseph, the silent saint, who was given the noble task of caring and watching over the Virgin Mary and Jesus, now cares for and watches over the Church and models for all the dignity of human work.

Beginning in the Book of Genesis, the dignity of human work has long been celebrated as a participation in the creative work of God. By work, humankind both fulfills the command found in Genesis to care for the earth (Gn 2:15) and to be productive in their labors. Neepawa comes from the Cree word “land of plenty” and sits on some of the most productive and beautiful agricultural land in the world. People who live here work extremely hard to feed the world. Saint Joseph, the carpenter and foster father of Jesus, is but one example of the holiness of human labor and reflects the lives and work of those whom we call friend and neighbour.
